Marquis of Montrose

The Marquis of Montrose was perhaps the most tragic, brilliant and romantic figure of the British Civil Wars. He bacame the King's Champion in all of Scotland and fought a brilliant campaign against extraordinary odds, battling the grim Government Covenanter forces.
With a cadre of three Irish regiments, largely veterans from the Continent and aided by an ever changing alliance of Highland Clans, Montrose smashed army after army, sometimes in pitched battle, other times in skirmishes and raids. He was a very accomplished general, winning so much with so little, time and again. It was his ability to enthuse and inspire his men and keep them together long enough for a common cause that perhaps was his greatest virtue, though his personal bravery in a madcap campaign mustalso be applauded.

Warlord Games have captured Montrose reigning in his horse, telescope in hand , once again attempting to out- fox his wily Scot enemies.

'The Devastator' Mac Colla & Bodyguards

This is Warlord's take on perhaps the most dangerous man in the British Isles at the time...Alasdair MacColla "The Devastator", a man who went by many names, some rarely used out loud!
This legendary Highland warrior came from the Isles and grew famous for his startling strength, size and ferocity incombat. He went on to lead the deadly Irish Brigade in most of their battles in the Highlands against the hapless forces of the Covenant, and is credited with creating the famous Highland charge.

Ferocious in battle, and sometimes needlessly cruel, this huge and frightening man inspired his men with his individual prowess with broadsword and targe. He formed a lifeguard of around one hundred and fifty menand had two, presumably hand picked bodyguards, named Dubhaltach MacPhee and Calum MorMacInnes, armed to the teeth here as you can see in all their atavistic glory!

Paint these three up and put them up against any foes and see them blanche...

Montrose Irish

The Irish Brigade were a Brigade of three veteran regiments brought over from Ireland by Charles 1. They were all largely Irish and Catholic and had been fighting for some time in the Thirty Years War in Continental Europe. They formed the hard core of the Marquis of Montrose's forces inhis titanic struggle for control of Scotland for the King.
Arguably, because of their experience and coherence of having fought together abroad, this brigade may well have been the most deadly units in Britain at the time. They were quite wild men, used to living from the land and looting as they did when they raided Aberdeen and took what they needed,
Desperate men, foreigners and Catholics in a Protestant country, the Irish fought hard knowing that defeat could mean disaster, and capture, execution or worse..
Warlord brings you the Irish Brigade with its colourful flags, richly attired Officers and wild and ragged pike and shot, all eager to get to grips with their mortal enemies.
