Soviet Naval Brigade
The Naval Infantry Brigades fought hard in most of the epic Soviet battles of WWII. Formed from tough sailors when the Russian army had been shattered by fast moving German forces, the Brigada Morskoi Pekhoty as they were known, were truly sailors armed with infantry weapons and ordered to the front or fighting in situ to defend their naval bases.
Clad in dark uniforms they soon earned the nick name "Black Death or Black Devils" from their foes.
They fought at Leningrad in one of the grimmest sieges in history and also were at Sevastopol in 1941when their base was overrun. They also fought In Finland, East Prussaia and launched raids against the Finns and Germans from Archangel.
Most famously they defended the grain elevator at Stalingrad for many days; losing appalling casualties but refusing to give in.
Warlord's Russian sailors are a tough bunch indeed.Ourrah! |

| Red Army Soviet Infantry
The ferocious battles on the Eastern Front were the largest military confrontations the world has known. Facing and defeating the vast majority of Germany's armed forces, the Soviet army was arguably the most decisive force in World War II. On the vast rolling plains, in the brutal winter and in hellish urban settings, the Red Army was an unstoppable tide of men and machinery - one of the largest, most powerful armies in history.
The Soviet soldiers ably supported by T34 tanks and immense artillery batteries, gradually pushed back the German invaders who very nearly took their capital city, Moscow. With the tide of battle turned Germany would be fighting a rear guard action back to Berlin and defeat...

Soviet Anti-Tank Squad
With
a lack of their own anti-tank weapons the Soviet forces had to be
resourceful when fighting German armour. Our Anti Tank team
consists of three men, one with a Soviet anti-tank rifle, one with a
captured Panzerfaust and finally a dog handler armed with a PPsh.
The dog is an anti-tank dog and has been trained to search for
food under tanks. When carrying an explosive pack this makes
for an occaisionally effective, certainly controversial, anti-armour
weapon. |

Soviet 45mm Anti-Tank Gun
The
45mm anti-tank gun was to be found at Company level all over the
Russian front. Low slung and highly manouverable, it was under
powered by mid-war but was kept in the Soviet inventory until after
the war, proving that to a very pragmatic army like the Soviets, it
had its uses.
